Midway Games has just announced a pretty big title for fans of superheroes and Mortal Kombat. It seems for the first time Scorpion, Sub Zero and the other Mortal Kombat warriors from Midway's very popular franchise will face off against Batman, Superman and other DC Super Heroes. According to the press release, the game will feature the signature attacks that Mortal Kombat is famous for.

While some fans may be up in arms that Batman could have his head and skull forcibly removed like a normal Mortal Kombat player, I think it might be a lot of fun. Of course, gameplay is everything, so I’ll wait till I play it before I say if this was a good idea or not.

While the game is being written as a collaboration between the Mortal Kombat creative team and top comic scribes Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, I don’t exactly hold out hope that the story will drive game sales…it all comes down to kick ass fatalities and fun.

Look for the game later this year on the PS3 and Xbox 360. But to help you deal with the wait…enjoy this trailer.
