I will never sit through another Spike Video Game Awards again.  I'll admit that the opening with Jack Black fucking a PS3 and an Xbox 360 got a laugh out of me when the Wii walked in and he said to it, "I thought you were at church."  Following that there was a long musical number where they attempted to cram as many gamer stereotypes possibly into the span of four minutes.

But the real reason to tune in was the trailers for upcoming videogames and a couple of key announcements.  One announcement was that tonight at midnight (PST), there would be a brand new map pack to download for "Gears of War 2".  The other big announcement was that Pearl Jam's "Ten" would be available as DLC for "Rock Band 2" in March.  I found the second bit of news much cooler.

As for the trailers, here are the notables:

- Even though I don't have very high hopes for either "Watchmen: The End is Nigh" or "Terminator Salvation" but they get some credit for showing what looks like actual gameplay and not just cut scenes which is pretty much what every other videogame trailer did.  We bring you these trailers because we're primarily a movie website and so even those these games will almost undoubtedly be broken, rushed, and ill-conceived, we've included them below.

- Of the trailers for videogames, I would say that the winners are "GTA IV: The Lost and Damned" which looks almost like a videogame version of "Sons of Anarchy" (one of the characters is even named "Clay") but it's GTA IV.  Rockstar will charge whatever they want for this DLC and we'll buy it.  But they saved the best for last with "Brutal Legend".  Awash in a sea of games that take themselves way too seriously, "Brutal Legend" stands out because it looks like it will actually be...gasp!--FUN.  Sadly, we'll have to wait till Autumn 2009 for that glory.

Check out the trailers below and muse how much it cost each celebrity to come on and present an award.
